Now every time I look in the sink
I’ll pray for Love and Larry
Who is blind in one eye
And tells me about his mom
Who had alzheimer’s
And of his 13 eye procedures
As he installs the new sink drain crooked
He has emphysema and wheezes
Through a gesture of inquiry
Regarding the neighbor’s stroke
I sense no surprise or sympathy
He is “not a liberal person”
I read about a redhead named Morgan
Last name Love
Who is in a hospital in Alabama
I pray for her, but
I pray for so many others
In so much less detail
Don’t know the name
Of every one who suffers
Not every one has
Some one
To pray
For them
So what?
About them?
I hurt my elbow trying to center the new drain
But the plumber’s putty has dried
It is so shiny and perfect, but a little off to the left
Just like Larry’s line of sight
”Shadows and light” are all he sees
Out of that right eye
I didn’t tell him that those are the same thing
Then he’d only see one thing or not
First name of a girl I know from one I don’t
Autumn, another Love I hope is well
I remember the way she danced better than the rest
And her sweet smile and her bright eyes when she’d cry
This is so lovely. Thank you for giving me this to think about.
"”Shadows and light” are all he sees
Out of that right eye
I didn’t tell him that those are the same thing"
Gorgeous.
